Hi, First Grade Families!
We hope you are all doing well. We sure miss seeing your amazing kids every day and look forward to our reunion! Until school returns, we will be doing distance learning. Students are not required to complete any work we provide, but we strongly encourage that they do some kind of school work while they are home.
On this webpage, we have provided links to many useful resources. We have created weekly packets for the duration of the extended break from school. These packets feature a review of concepts we covered during our time in school. It is not necessary to print out the packets as we will not be collecting any of the work when we return to school, so writing out answers on scratch paper is just fine! However, if you require printing of any resources provided, please contact our school office and they will handle the logistics of that for you.
We certainly understand that a myriad of worksheets can be a bore for the kids, so we have also provided links to fun websites! iReady provides game-like math and reading activities catered to your child’s individual needs. Try to get your child to pass one reading and one math lesson a day. Other sites like BrainPOP Jr., P.E. with Joe, and the Sora reading app can also provide hours of educational fun for the kids.
Utilizing Seesaw is the best way for students to share work and receive feedback from the teachers. Feel free to upload any work you want to show us. We will be happy to check it out!
Again, students are not required to do any of this, and we are simply sharing these resources for their benefit; please use as little or as much of them as you and your child are comfortable with. Your safety is the #1 priority during this time of fear and uncertainty, and we don’t want you feeling pressured to focus on academics.
Please email your child’s teacher if you have any questions! Please continue to stay safe and make sure to cherish the extra family time that we now have thanks to this unfortunate situation. We miss you, we are here for you, and we hope to see you soon!
